IncluITe, a project to empower inclusion of people with hearing impairment, launches its crowdfunding campaign

IncluITe is a real-time voice-to-sign language translator. This project from Argentina is one of 20 ideas selected to receive support from Santander X Explorer and has just launched its crowdfunding campaign.

What is this project about, and how is it linked to the 2030 SDGs? Let’s reflect on children, young people, and adults who are deaf, with a desire to learn alongside their peers in an educational institution, to feel included and function naturally in society. Let’s think about quality education (SDG 4). IncluITe envisions the following scenario: a class, whether in a physical or virtual classroom, that, with basic technological equipment and internet access, allows students with hearing impairments or who are deaf to participate without barriers, on equal terms with other students.

David, the creator, developer, and team member of IncluITe, asks you: Can you imagine it? The teacher opens the application at the start of the class and begins to speak. At that moment, a 3D avatar acts as an interpreter on the main screen that the students are watching, translating the voice into sign language in real-time, enabling students with hearing impairments to participate in the class as usual.

IncluITe offers this application to teaching professionals, which also includes a package of primary, secondary, and complementary functions reviewed by a sign language specialist. The verdict is clear: it’s a viable tool.\
