What if not checking your phone in class actually earned you a reward? That’s the challenge set by OnFocus, selected as one of the featured projects in Santander X Explorer and created at the University of Salamanca (Spain). Our goal is to turn a common problem — mobile phone distraction in the classroom — into an opportunity to motivate students, improve the learning environment and, at the same time, boost local businesses. The project also contributes to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly by promoting quality education (SDG 4) and sustainable communities (SDG 11). But how does it work?
“OnFocus was born to make paying attention in class something natural. It’s not about banning or punishing, but about encouraging students to want to focus by themselves — recognising and rewarding their effort,” explains Sergio González, the project’s founder.

The goal of our crowdfunding campaign is not only to raise funds, but also to** make OnFocus known** and connect with educational institutions and local businesses that want to be part of this innovative initiative. We aim to expand our network of schools and shops, building partnerships that foster positive motivation in the classroom.
The money raised will help us continue developing the app and improving the experience for both students and partners. But beyond funding, what truly matters is gaining the visibility and support that will allow us to expand OnFocus and transform education in a real and sustainable way.
Fundraising has already begun for OnFocus. You can check the status of the campaign here and, if you’d like, find out how to support it!
